Pink Shirt Day
Anti-Bullying Day (or Pink Shirt Day) is an annual event, held in Canada and other parts of the world, where people wear pink to stand up against bullying. This day originated in 2007 by two twelfth-grade students, David Shepherd and Travis Price, in Nova Scotia. They witnessed a ninth-grade student getting bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school. As a result, David and Travis purchased 50 pink shirts and distributed them to students at this Highschool to stand up against the bullies.
We ask all students and staff to wear pink on February 26, 2025 as a reminder of the impacts of bullying and what we can do to stop it. On this day, teachers will be providing education to students about what bullying is and what role we all play in standing up against it. At KELSET, we teach students how and when to use their WITS (Walk away, Ignore, Talk it out, Seek help) in difficult situations.
