Pink Shirt day (Anti- Bulling Day)
Anti-Bullying Day, also known as Pink Shirt Day, is celebrated annually in Canada and across the globe. It encourages people to wear pink in solidarity against bullying. This event began in 2007 and was initiated by two twelfth graders, David Shepherd and Travis Price, in Nova Scotia. They witnessed a ninth grader being bullied for wearing a pink shirt and decided to take action by buying 50 pink shirts and handing them out to students in their high school as a stand against the bullies.
We invite all students and staff to wear pink on February 26, 2025, as a reminder of the effects of bullying and how we can work together to combat it. On this day, teachers will educate students on the nature of bullying and our collective responsibility to address it. At KELSET, we instruct students on the appropriate use of their WITS (Walk away, Ignore, Talk it out, Seek help) in challenging situations.
