Orange Shirt Day

September 30 has been declared as a National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.  It is a day of recognition of the harm the residential school system did to children’s sense of self-esteem and wellbeing and as an affirmation of our commitment to ensure that everyone around us matters.  This day is also an opportunity for Indigenous and Non-Indigenous people, local governments, schools and communities to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come. The students and staff at ELSET will mark this day on September 29 by wearing orange and discussing these important issues within their classes.  Let us all do our part to ensure we are taking collective action in support of reconciliation in education.  HÍSW̱E
