KELSET Playspace Committee
Grand Writing help needed!
Since the Fall of 2022 the ḰELSET Play Spaces Committee has been working to make the Naturescape Enhancement Project a reality. The project will see the revitalization of the Naturescape (adjacent to our playground) and will include large climbing structures, spinners, a sunken sandpit, and climbing boulders, all carefully integrated into the natural landscape.
The team has been working hard to raise funds - including applying for several grants. Tree Canada awarded us $10,000 in December 2024, and we hope to move forward with the planting of native trees and shrubs later this Spring when conditions are right.
The Island Equipment Operators Association has also agreed to support our project with a donation of their time and equipment, and the Greater Victoria Savings & Credit Union Legacy Fund has provided an additional $9500. Combined with fundraisers like the upcoming Garage Sale on March 7 & 8 (which raised $2800 last year), we are slowly acquiring the funds needed to make this project a reality - but we need more help!
We have a list of grants to apply for, but require assistance taking our existing grant applications and editing them to meet specific grant criteria. If we had enough volunteers to each tackle ONE grant application, we could make it through so many more before the deadlines are upon us!
➡️ If you'd like more information about the Grant Writing subcommittee or would like to offer to help, please reach out to kelsetplayspaces@gmail.com
We would also welcome anyone interested in joining the Play Spaces Committee itself, or any fundraising connections or ideas you may wish to share. Together we can make this project a reality! ❤️
