Orange Shirt Day at ḰELSET - September 29
Our students and staff wore orange today to demonstrate our affirmation that Every Child Matters. Our students participated in a variety of activities and learning about residential schools and the serious impact on our Indigenous communities, and our work toward reconciliation. It is important that our community demonstrates commitment to the work needed to build inclusive schools.
September 30th has been declared the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day where we wear orange in recognition of the intergeneration harm to children and their families. All schools are closed on this day to take time to reflect on the importance of the messages behind Truth & Reconciliation.
